Complete manga to get: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (7 vol)

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Vol. 1
If you are into Ghibli Movies, you might have heard of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind  one of the first movies to be produced by the great director Hayao Miyazaki.
well, this movie was based on Hayao's own manga under the same name, while the movie was a hit by itself, but it didn't have the length to present the whole epicness of the original story which gone through 7 long volumes, at the end of the world where nature is much more crueler than we will ever imagine, giant bugs, moving plants, killing atomosphere, you can't live ungraded, humanity are near extension from all this fearsome nature, but there is one girl who still love nature, she might be the blue claded hero that legends talks about to free humanity from the fear of the world's end.
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind started 1982 and finished with a total of 7 volumes in 1994, published in English by VIZ Media.

Complete manga to get: Black Cat (20 vol)

Black Cat, Vol. 2 (Black Cat (Graphic Novels)) (v. 2)
You know when you start following a manga, you expect reading it to the end, and it get's frustrating if you read a manga and in one point you find that the company responsible for providing it, get's bankrupt, or get the manga on hiatus, or just like one company we all know *coughTokyo..coughpop.. cough* always does not disappoint us to disappoint us.
well, i thought i would start with a series of recommendations about some of the complete manga you might want to start reading, and some of the manga which is still available.
to start off, we are going with our beloved assassin Train, in the manga Black Cat, you might have watched the anime already, and fell in love with it, but if you haven't read the manga, then oh well, lets say the manga is something else, well, i haven't watched the whole anime yet, but i heard the ending is open, so it's all the same, you need to read this manga either way.
This manga follows the story of Train an assassin known in the underworld as the black cat with the tattoo of number XIII on his neck. train leaving his past as an assassin behind, starts working with Sven to work as sweepers, it's a job smiler to bounty hunters catching wanted criminals and delivering them to justice,But trains past is still hunts him putting train on situations that force him to give the cat eye to his enemies, along the way train and sven meets foes and friends who shape the story for them.
This manga comes from Kentaro Yabuki the one responsible of creating Yamato Gensouki, Mayoi Neko Overrun! and To-LOVE-Ru.
Black cat started in 2000 and finished with total of 20 Vol, published in English by Viz Media.

Glass Fleet Review

Glass Fleet: Box SetIt's been a while, well, today i'v come to review for you the anime Glass Fleet, which i got it for a cheap bargain ($19.9) at Right stuf on new year, so if you saw my post here then i guess you got for yourself something good too.
the boxset contains 26 Ep, 24 of them were aired on T.v if you watched it like that, and 2 were specials only for the DVD numbered 16.5 and 20.5.
This anime is a space Opera where nobility fights each others for territory and supremacy, leaving the people as usual suffering from wars, so to liberate the people a force called The People's Army led by a nobleman called Michel stands against the newly founded empire led by Vetti, while the Army of people were in a desperate fight against the empire a battle ship created from glass comes by to the rescue, upon seeing how strong this battleship is, Michel tries to convince the battleship crew to join the army, but the captain of that glass battleship Cleo has thoughts of his own.
the story so far seems interesting, a little repetitive maybe, but was nicely executed, some might have some thoughts of this anime being random for the sake of the final plot, which i did myself, but after knowing a little more about the story, you get to fit the randomness of the events accruing to their respective places.
the characters were ok, i wouldn't say they were bad, they had some faults that's true, but they also managed to pull it off along the series, only the overall story helped them to be able to do that, but if you are out there to find a good characters, don't go that deep because there isn't any, while we are talking about the characters, lets just say that the most annoying one out there is Cleo, his character is just of a one that it wanted to be perfect but it couldn't, adding to that is the voice actor for it in JAP was so dead acting the role, he kept on annoying me, anyway, just wanted to get that out of my chest, so if there was a weak point to this anime, i would put Cleo as the center of that point, because everything else was not as bad.
the animation was not bad too, a little static and hard on the edge, but there was some nice coloring to it, with good characters design, though i was hoping that the cover art that accompanied the anime boxset was more true to how it looked like in the anime itself, even the sword that is held by Michel is totally different than the one portrayed on the box cover, which annoys me, because i really liked that sword on the cover.
for the music, i guess that was the best part of this anime, really soothing, and fills the air with an atmosphere that makes you live the time that the story was presented in.
the boxset also contains some trailers and a special interview with the director, which explained to me why Cleo was that annoying.
now, after watching this anime and Tytania i'm going to resign watching any other space opera anime, it's just not the thing for me, but if you like them, then i guess this anime IS for you, at least it's much more better than Tytania.

Anime S.A.V.E.

Beck Box Set S.A.V.E.Been browsing Amazon lately and found some anime that been promoted as a S.A.V.E editions.
well, the prices truly can makes you droll over them, up to 50% off O_O..
The anime list is long, for me i had my eyes on Pumpkin Scissors: The Complete Series Box Set for a long time, and it was too expensive for me to get, but with the S.A.V.E deal, that is (well, how much was it?? i can't even remember) down to $14.99.
i was thinking of completing my manga collection, but i guess i can let that wait for a while, and get my hand on some anime box sets, after all there is over 300 anime title, and the deal end on 04/19.
you can find the anime listed for this Here.
i will have a hard time choosing out of all those in such a short time.

pokemon SoulSilver version review

Pokemon SoulSilver Version Software OnlyBeen released recently the latest pokemon series games Pokemon SoulSilver and Pokemon HeartGold in the DS, the remakes for the old Pokemon Gold/ Pokemon Silver Versions on the Game boy Color.
i'v actually played the original games on the GBC and was so exited to see those remakes coming out to the DS.
as i'v finished the Gold version first on the GBC, i thought i will go with the soulsilver for the DS, and so i got it.
There is a few addition to this game that makes it different than any previews pokemon games you have played before:
1-There is the new accessory the pokewalker, which allows you to transfer one pokemon to it, and by holding it while you walk you can collect watts that allows you to play mini-games such as catching pokemon or finding items, it also makes your pokemon more friendlier with you + it rises it's level by one every time you take it to a walk.
2- you get to have one starter pokemon from each region, which are from the Johto Starters: Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile, Kanto Starters: Bulbasaur,  Charmander and Squirtle and Hoenn Starters:Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip.
3- when you play, one of your pokemon follows you while you are walking (remember pikachu in pokemon yellow?).
well, the story as usual is that you find your self in a journey to become a pokemon trainer, and in a mission to collect pokemon and fill your pokedex, that have never changed in any pokemon game before, there is your rival, there is the eight pokemon gym leaders, in this game there is up to 16 gym leader as that you play in 2 regions the Johto and the Kanto region, there is also your final destination to prove yourself worthy of being a pokemon trainer the pokemon league, there is also the legendary pokemons that you can not tolerate not getting them on your team.
the music is just the same, maybe enhanced a little, but it's your usual pokemon BGM.
the graphics are the same, there is one addition thought, which is the introduction background image that you see whenever you enter a new area, i really liked this small addition, even thought it's not anything fancy.
the interface for the game has changed drastically, your pokedex has a net pokemon show screen, and in the touch screen rests your menu screen , i still have some hard time getting used to it, since this is the first time that the menu screen has change this much, but still it's suitable for the DS touch screen.
You can expect all the Wi-Fi events that was introduced to the previews D/P and platinum in this one too, exchange your pokemon, complete your pokedex, and become the best pokemon master there is.
i'm definitly going to get Pokemon HeartGold Version to.

looking foreword to the next pokemon generation, i don't know if you heard about it, but a new pokemon game is in the making ^_^.

Sonic and the Black Knight Action Figure

Sonic and the Black Knight Exclusive Action Figure Sonic the HedgehogDetails
Name: Sonic the Hedgehog
From: Sonic and the Black Knight video game on the Wii
production: Jazwares
Height:  5 inches

Got this the other day upon seeing it on the shelf staring at me, i heard voices and cries asking for Help....
Just kidding.
really thought, i have a really small figure collection, so whenever i see them i just goes to the super highper shopping mode, and get them what ever the cost, anything related to video games, anime or manga get's me into that mode..
Sonic and the Black Knight Action Figure is good looking, and very detailed one at that, unfortunately it's so very detailed that it ignored the facts that virtual sizes if was to be converted to real can be problematic with gravity rules implemented, to make it simple sonic's big head and small body can't be used in real life subjects, because that small body can not hold it's balance supporting such large head, so making this figure actually do different kind of posses can be a little frustrating at times, which makes you think a display Stand would be very helpful.
in another note, with all that is said up, i really like this figure, it is good looking after all, and if you are a sonic fan you will love it for sure, but don't expect it will stand still in it's place, it's the fastest hedgehog after all, and falling in a speed that you can't actually see is one of it's traits.

it can stand broadly as you can see, he is fitting really well

the problem is, you can't have two sword's masters at the same time
"Yuko & Sachi in the back are having fun watching the fight, it's been a while since there was any action"
A side note: Christopher from "Sonic X" has always reminded me of Sora, that is weird

Final Fantasy XIII - Freezing issues (warning)

Answer the poll to the right please.
I really didn't want to write anything about FFXIII until i progress further into the game, but as many of you know, there is so many people complaining about the game being laggy and that it freezes randomly, sometimes at the same spot with no hope of continuing the game.
unfortunately, i got the same problem too, i first noticed it when i was on chapter 6, the screen goes black when there is a transitions between scenes that occur, it happened twice, so i turned off the system, when i got back and played it again it played with no problems, that is until i reached the end of chapter 7, every time i beat the boss and i get the loading screen after the scene, it just freezes showing that is loading.
well, the problem might not be only the freezing issue, it's been noticed that after this problem, some other games freezes too, and faces some problems when they are played, and that also happened to me when i tried to turn on heavy rain, it just wouldn't work, so i left the system turned off to cool down (i wounder if it will run now, didn't try that yet). "Edit: it turns that one of the save file for heavy rain gone corrupted upon playing after facing the problem with FFXIII freezing, so it would be wise if you let the system cool off if you faced the freeze, and do not play or open any save file to be cautious."
to make it clear, i have an 80g fat ps3, the problem is happening also on 20g, 40g, 60g and some people who own the slim reported the same problem, also the X360 has it too, so i don't believe it's the system fault, it's mostly because of the game, beside, have anyone heard of any complaints about the JP version of the game???
anyhow, if you faced those freezing issues, be warned, don't play the game until there is some official statement about it comes out, i doubt that aether sony or Square Enix will just set with their hands up on the air while all those people are having those problems and sending their complains about it.
SO WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
simple.. contact sony and Square Enix about the problem and let them know, if there is so many people complaining about this, then they should do something about it, or the trust we gave them will go away, and i don't think they want that to happen.
hope this problem get solved soon, i was really anticipating this game for years, and it might be the final "final fantasy" game that i would ever play, so i wished it would be a great closer for me to this series, if i was ever gonna stop playing the large platforms games.(i hope i don't stop thought).

Heavy rain: review

Heavy RainIt's been a while, sorry for that, this year is one of the busiest years i'v been through, there is studding for my last course in college, video games addicting (especially with all those good games that are coming out right now), trying to keep up with anime watching and there is other stuff too :P
well, i'v come today to review for you the newest greatest hits on the PS3, Heavy rain, a drama/action survival game, with bad moving but a unique action controls.
Heavy rain is about a serial killer who abducts young children which are found after 3 to 5 days dead drowned in rain water with an origami in their hands, you play with 4 different characters to find the leads to that killer, and to find the answer for the question you face in the game "How far will you go to save someone you love?", really, how far can you go?? the answer could hurts sometimes.
the story totally depends on you, you will face different choices and upon what you chose the outcome will differ drastically, not only your choices but also how good you play, or how good is your reflexes can change your characters destiny too, for those character to manage to live through this game, or for you to kill them with a wrong move, and when you do so, you will not game over, but you will continue with the remaining characters you have, i know, because my bad reflexes cost me the life of so many people in this game (could have managed to save a few life if i was a little better on remembering the different between the L and R), so this game has a high replying value, what is more is that when you start playing, believe me, you will not be able to put that controller down, you will starve to know more, to see what comes next, and how your ending will be?
but even thought that this game is great, the moving control can be frustrating, the characters move like a zombie, and it's a fingers killing to manage to make the characters go to the direction you want them to go, but that does not neglect the fact that that same controls can be fun sometimes, with the action and the fight, you can test how good your reflexes are, and you can try different kind of movement along the way.
the music is great, specially when you set with Ethan, he can have some sad music that will make you feel warm and sad at the same time, and also when there is action you get some good BGM.
in the graphics department, i can't really say much on that matter since i still play my PS3 games on a regular TV, sad i know, but let me tell you this, this game were not meant to be played other than on an HDTV, it's obvious with the sad looking colors i'v seen, i'm sure it would be much more good on and HDTV.
anyhow, this one game would be a big waste if you did not give it a try, thought it is not meant for little ones, there is some M scenes that come with some choices you make, well it is rated M after all, but i know some games that are rated M but still playable for younger people, however this game has alot of nudity and some H stuff, so careful not to let any kids see you play. (for me, now i know what choices i should have avoided, and that was not funny at all). still, one of the best games i'v played ever.

Rune Factory: Frontier Review

Rune Factory: FrontierIf you ever played harvest moon before, then Rune factory shouldn't be any different to you.

You play as the hero, a guy who lost his memory and was rescued by a girl called mist, one day he wakes up to find that his rescuer had gone away, so he set in a trip to find her, and he does so when he get across a village in his travel, the girl gives him a house and a farm to work in it, and here your daily days in tending for your farm and adventuring in this village starts.
i'v played so many harvest moon games before such as Harvest Moon: Back To Nature on the PS1, Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland and Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life Special Edition on the PS2, Harvest Moon: Boy & Girl and Innocent Life: A Future Harvest Moon on the PSP and also Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town on the GBA and Harvest Moon DS on the DS (WOW, didn't actually know i'v played this much harvest moon games until iv' actually counted them O_O ).
well, it tells how much this game is addicting even thought it has one pattern game play, wake up in the morning, tend to your farm and animals, talk to the town people, find a girl you like, get married, and some games you continue your life with your kids.
well Rune Factory: Frontier presented something different, something more interesting and an adventure that you might not get bored playing after a 2 or 3 years (in the game calender that is), this game is set in a fantasy RPG world, where you go to dungeons and fight monsters along tending to your farm and talking to the town people, you get some weapons, you use magic, and you can catch the monsters and make them fight along side you, or just leave them in the barn and let them help you in taking care of your farm, and by the way those monsters are there instead of the usual animals like cows and chickens, some of them are totally cute, and some are meh, but they are useful.
as the prev harvest moon games, you also can expand your house, you can add facilitates such as the forge where you upgrade your tools or make your weapons, you have your crafting table, you can do some alchemy and of course you can cook.
what i really love in this games is the characters design, they look so nice, the graphic is great, and there is some animated scenes, the characters dubs was okay but for the script itself feels that it's not faithful at some points.
there is so many characters to interact with, so you have so many choices of who you want to befriend or to make it fall in love with the main character.
for me this is the best harvest moon i'v get across, thought the controls sometimes can get annoying specially when you farm, but when you get used to it, it's nothing major.
Nice Opening

Tales of a game that now have seen the light

lately i'v been hooked playing video games and spending more time playing than watching anime (Lately i'v been hooked alot O_O), so i guess you well see more games related posts this month than anime and manga.
anyhow, today i will not give you something like a review or a deep post, it's just about something i found while searching the net.
i haven't played a lot of "Tales of.." games, i'v only played Tales of Eternia and Tales Of The World: Radiant Mythology on the PSP, Tales of the Abyss on PS2, and Tales Of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World on the Wii, so from a series that contains over 13 mother titles alone other than the side titles, i haven't got alot experience in this series, but nontheless i'v liked what i played and want to try more Tales games.
well, two days ago i had the urge to search about this game series, and learn some info about it, as you know, not much tales game have been ported to NA or EU which is disappointing. while searching i found this group called "Absolute zero" which are working on translating some tales title that haven't seen the light for official English releases.
their first project was 'Tales of Phantasia" on the PS which only been released in English on the GBA version thought it has a SNES, PS, and PSP versions that was only released in JP, they have finished translating this game professionally, and fortunately for me i found this game converted to be played on PSP translated by this group HERE (you need to have costumed PSP to play this).
i'v played a little and i can't believe that the translation is by a fan group, it's just amazing how much work have been put into this game to be delivered for other fans for free, which makes me admire this group, they really deserve to be praised.
their other projects for now are "Tales of Innocence" on the DS and "Tales of Destiny" on the PS2, well "Tales of innocence" looks really good T_T, but i don't have a memory for my DSi so i have to pass on it for a while if it got released soon, but i'm looking foreword for "Tales of Destiny", and i hope they have some plans for "Tales of Rebirth" on the PS2 also.
well, if you are a tales fan that really want to enjoy the games that haven't been released officially in English, i recommend you to check this group, and if you like their work, give them some support.

i can't get enough watching this intro

Uncharted 2 : Among Thieves Review

Uncharted 2: Among ThievesLately i'v bee hooked with Uncharted, even thought i'm not into Adventure/Action games that much, but since it's been recommended to me i thought i would give it a try.
well, i haven't played the first part of this game, so Among thieves is my starter, anyhow, in uncharted you play as Drake a treasure hunter who is after the Chintamani stone which is said to be in Shambhala or as it's know Shangri-La (isn't that an anime XD) , and that is where marco polo expeditions said to be gone too, to uncover the secret of marco polo, a part of his journey that he never talked about, you have to travel all the way to the Himalaya to find the truth.
for me this game felt like it was a mix of Tomb rider with the adventure and puzzle elements and resident evil with the action element, which is great, because i love these kind of games, and i think that is what helped me try this game in the first place.
aside from the great gaming experience, the graphic got to amaze you, just thinking how games used to look on the first generation of playstation and how it looks now, makes you say "wow". well truly the graphics and the game engine was superb, but still there were some little things that will bother you while you play, like how chloe's eye's are reflecting so much light, or where the only character with the good looking graphics is only Drake, but i guess that is just some miner stuff when it comes to the over all judgment of the game.
while the graphics were undoubtedly the best that i'v seen on the ps3, the gaming experience also were as good, you had so much moves that you can do fighting the enemy, and you get to use different kind of shooting weapons (for me i always prefer to use the hand over the gun :P) , also the puzzle and where you have to look at drake notes that is updated regularly while you are playing is one of my favorite, seeing those funny notes beside a puzzle note gave the game some good feeling to it, thought at the end you just feel that the game becomes a little repetitive and it becomes easy to figure out where to go next, i would loved it to be more deep at that point of the game.
in another hand, the sound part of the game was great, the music was lovely, felt so nice and enjoyable, the dubbing for the characters too was so professional, at times it almost felt that those characters were actually alive, and the visual helpd of course.
over all, this game was as great as people say, and for a person who usually play games that spans more than 50 hours of game play, finishing this one in less than 9 hours (continually dieing - poor drake) felt sad somehow, i wanted it to expand much more (so drake would die much more) , but i guess, i can go finish it in another difficulty level and make sure to get all the treasure and make some good trophies :P
if you haven't played this game yet, you ought to give it a try, it's like watching a good hollywood action movie.

Where to buy manga and anime online?

Well, i guess lately the main source for getting what you want is online, for me 95% of my anime/manga collection comes from websites like amazon, rightstuf, Alibris .. etc
in this post i want to share with you the goods and bads of each site i'v dealt or came across too, since i too, had a problem finding a good place to get my portion of anime and manga.
  1. Amazon: this site is as famous as it's gets, and it's the first website that i'v dealt with, what is good about amazon is that it is one huge store that you can find whatever you want in it, that includes anime and manga of course and any related things to them. when it comes to manga, i like amazon's "4-for-3 promotion", that mean you can buy 3 manga and get the fourth for free, if you buy 8 then 2 is free and so on, it's usually good for people who buy huge amount of manga, unfortunately this promotion does not include the new released manga. for the anime, i don't usually buy from amazon itself, but from the retailers, you can find great deals if you search really well, sometimes you can find two retailers competing with each other, everyone of them decreasing the price by few cents every day, buy the end of the week you buy an OVA with less than $2. well, this is mostly for OVA, what i don't like about amazon is that if you buy from amazon itself then you pay taxes, if you you buy a lot of stuff from different retailers then the shipping is a nightmare, but still, amazon is a good place to check out for a good deal, plus they have a good customer service.
  2. Right Stuf: this site has good deals, if you check out their Weekly Specials or Bargain Bin, you can find some cool stuff, and also you have Shawne's Deal of the Day that you can find it at the top right on the content page of the website, which offers you 10 deals per-day, and you have to chose one in less than 60 min, usually the good deals are the last one of the 10, the bad thing about this site is that it's usually out of stock, and you have to wait extra time to get what ever you want, still if you want something real bad you have to give something in return.
  3. Just Manga: well, it's not just manga, they also have anime and related stuff, but they are mainly focusing on manga, to tell you the truth i'v never bought anything from this website, their prices isn't that great, and i'm not sure i can get in one of their clubs to get some discount, but nonetheless, they have a huge amount of manga, they also got a complete manga set offer, the prices might be more than if you bought the whole manga from another website, but if you had a problem finding the whole manga set, then this is your place. i usually check it out to find what complete manga i can get, which i buy from another website, i might try to buy from them one day, and if you got into there $5.55 manga club, then you can get the manga much more cheaper.
  4. Albris: it's a huge book store, so it's a good place to get manga, if you are into used manga, or rare stuff, you might find what you want here. there is a lot of sellers here, it works just like amazon, and it has the same bad shipping nightmare if you buy from different sellers, still, it's a good place to find something that you couldn't find in another place. for me, i would only use it for a last resort.
well, those were the websites that i usually deal with, i might add up more website in another post if i got across them in the future, if you know any good place to buy manga or anime or any related stuff to them, drop a comment.
